Dripping with Aussie Gold
Updated: Apr 24, 2019
A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to get our hands on an Aussie Gold Torch coral (Euphyllia glabrescens) for our aquaculture program at Salty Blues. This coral is highly sought after - and for good reason. It has tentacles that are a true gold colored base, but the gold gleams in a way that can be described as holographic as it swirls in the current. The tips are a stark white that stand out under whites or blues.
We feed our torches heavily with a variety of high quality foods: LRS Reef or Fish Frenzy, Reef Nutrition Oyster Feast, Mysis Feast, Phyto Feast, Roti Feast, R.O.E., Benepets Benereef, and Polyplab Reef Roids. We usually choose a few of those, throw a little of each in a cup, and target feed with a syringe 4-5 times a week. These corals appreciate moderate, chaotic flow, but not so much that the flesh is tearing off the skeleton. Moderate lighting is best, such as an open spot on the sand bed.
There is a growing wait list for this beautiful coral, but we hope to have an abundance of frags as time goes on. Contact us for pricing and to get your name added to the wait list. (515) 410-2779
